Blood Transfusion, 2022

Interactive Installation

The inspiration for this digital installation project came from my daily life. Like most people my age, I rarely watch TV, but spend a lot of time browsing social media every day. Now I am studying in Germany but grew up in China, so I browse both weibo and twitter.

To be honest I often feel divided because I am experiencing two cultural contexts at the same time. Often the views of both sides seem exaggerated and dramatic to me. Social media users are trapped in a cocoon of information, fervently and firmly convinced.

I hope to express the current phenomenon of 'filter bubbles' from a neutral perspective. Through this "blood transfusion" installation, the audience can briefly experience the social media atmosphere of two different cultures. It is like suddenly entering the other side of the information cocoon, being a local in another unfamiliar social media platform context.
